An Instant, Flavorful Rasam in Minutes
Rasam is the ultimate comfort food in South India. Typically, making rasam requires boiling lentils, extracting tamarind juice, and simmering it with spices. But this recipe utilizes the rich, tangy, and pre-spiced flavors of Trueats Tomato Pickle to make a hot, comforting bowl of rasam in less than 10 minutes!
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Trueats Tomato Pickle
- 1.5 cups Water
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
- A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
- 1 tbsp Ghee or Oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix Trueats Tomato Pickle with water until completely diluted.
- Heat ghee or oil in a small pot. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and hing. Let them splutter.
- Pour in the tomato pickle water mix and bring to a gentle boil. Do not over-boil.
- Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice!
